Vase - Iron Red

I have been working on several twisted forms lately, some are vases and others mugs. This was the very first one I did a few months back. There are still a few more waiting to be fired. I am quite happy with how the form turned out. The vase still feels heavy, which means there are still extra clay at the bottom and the cylinder could have been pulled higher. I am still perfecting pulling up a cylinder shape quickly and efficiently, not wasting too much clay. To reduce the weight, I carved a floral emboss on the bottom side to remove more clay. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of it.

The iron red color is also my first time trying the glaze. It turned out evenly with a luminous metallic sheen. I would like it to be darker with less red in it. I found the thinner glazed areas tend to be more reddish, so I will dip it slightly longer in the glaze next time to overcome that.
