Practice 2 - Rice Bowls
These bowls have the best glazes that I have done so far, particularly the oatmeal white collar with some crackle effect. I have been using pre-mixed glazes at the studio, but still there are so many variances in every dip. The thickness, the rubbing, the firing temperature, all elements that contribute or alter the result of glazes. This is also one fascinating aspect of making pottery that you can only control so much and leave an open heart to uncertainties. Pottery literally humbles you sometimes. It gives failures and unexpected moments all the time that I have to be ready to repeat the process anytime I work on something. The Pink Beige glaze turned out to be darker than I expected due the the glaze applied too thick. Nonetheless, these 2 bowls are in good hands of new owners already, which always makes me happy.
